About the signposts series...
The inspiration for this series of paintings came from a vintage Hawaiian photograph of old wooden signs casually hanging from a rustic fence.
The character and aesthetics of those signs told a timeless story and evoked many fond memories.
Edyta instantly thought of her own favorite spots in Hawai'i and decided to create this series to keep the memories of places we love alive.
The creative process that eventually leads to an oil painting on canvas does not compromise. A real directional signpost is built and stood in
an actual location carefully chosen to serve as a scenic background. The signs are hand painted on authentic beach wood.
After about one month and many thin layers of oil paint, original painting is completed. No photoshopping or airbrushing is used. Edyta relies
solely on her imagination to enrich the scenery and capture the spirit of the place.
